Caspers Wilderness Park is open all year.  There are four campgrounds in the park.  Star Mesa Equestrian Campground(23 camp sites), Live Oak Grove Campground(42 camp sites), Ortega Flats Campground(13 camp sites), and San Juan Meadows Group Campground(4 group sites).  The equestrian campground has facilities for horses.  Ortega Flats is the only campground with electrical hookups.  All other camp grounds are dry camping.

Equestrian activities are popular in the Star Mesa Campground.  There are horse corrals and numerous horse accessible trails that lead out of the park.

San Juan Meadows Campground is a group campground only.  Group sites can accommodate between 17 to 200 people.

The only campground with showers is Live Oak Campground.

The park is a great location for hiking, biking, and horsebackIng in the local hills around the park.  There are  numerous nature trai loops that start and end in the parks campgrounds.

Nearby in San Juan Capistrano is the San Juan Mission.  Built in 1776, it's a great place to visit.  There are also shops and restaurants around the mission.

Note of caution:  Traffic on Ortega Highway can move very fast.  Some motorcycles pass the campgrounds entrance at over 100 miles per hour.  When entering or exiting the roadway use extreme caution.  The entrance is at a slight bend in the road and traffic can approach quickly.

Poison Oak Warning:  There is Poison Oak in the campground at numerous locations.

There are numerous squirrels in the park.  All food must be secured.

Pets are not allowed in the park.
