California, Diaz Lake Campground has easy RV access from Highway 395.

Directions:

The Resort is located 3 miles south of Lone Pine on Highway 395.  Southbound from Lonepine, the entrance will be on the right side of the highway.

Diaz Lake Campground is located on Diaz Lake with direct lake camping.  The park can accommodate RV's to just about any size.  Tent sites and tent only sites are also available.  The park is open all year with reasonable camping rates.  A limited number of spots have shade trees but, most spots do not have shade trees.  Some camp roads are paved but, most are not paved.  Parking pads are all crushed rock.  Each site has a picnic table and fire ring.  Vault toilets and drinking water are available.  Diaz Lake is primarily a small fishing lake.  The park has amazing views of the local Mount Whitney mountain range.  Night star gazing in fantastic.  The small town of Lone Pine is located just three miles north of the park.  There are loads of recreational activities in the area.  The campground is open all year however, snow is possible in the winter months.  Reservations are best made through www.reserveamerica.com.

Local Activities:

Diaz Lake.  The lake has a small launch ramp and fishing available.  Mostly a fishing and kayaking lake.  Swimming is allowed.

Alabama Hills Recreation area is located near this park.

Mount Whitney is located approximately 15 miles from the park.  Mount Whitney is the tallest mountain in the continental United States.

Alabama Hills Cafe and Bakery.  Campbase had breakfast at the cafe and we recommend it.  Great breakfast and large portions.  Its located in downtown Lone Pine near the corner of Highway-395 and Whitney Portal Road.

Lone Pine Smokehouse.  We saved this one for our next visit but, it looks good.

The Pizza Factory is located in downtown Lone Pine.
