Comment

Emma Wood Group Campground has group and hike/bike camp spots only.  Maximum RV's length is 45 feet.  The campground is open all year.  Its located right on the beach in Ventura near the Ventura County Fairground and the Ventura Pier.  A restroom and beach shower/wash is available.  Services are not available at the campground however, downtown Ventura is just a mile from the campground.  Fire rings are available.  The group campground is located against the freeway and also along the railroad tracks.  There is considerable highway and rail noise.

The beach near the campground is rocky with green moss.  It's not easy to get over the rocks and into the Water.  A sandy beach can be found a short distance north of the campground.  Please see the Photos tab for photos of the beach.

Local Recreation:

The Ventura Pier and Ventura Fair Grounds are a short walking distance from the campground.  Beaches are less than one mile on the other side of Highway 101.  Kite surfing is popular on the beaches near the campground.

Old Downtown Ventura is also within walking distance where you will find a unique shops, markets, restaurants, bars, and bicycle repair.  It's actually quite a fun activity to walk downtown.  There is quite a bit of activity in the downtown area with numerous restaurants to choose from.  My recommendation is Rice by Mama, Thai Cuisine.

The old town of Ojai is just a short drive away.

The Ojai Bike Trail runs from Ojai, past the campground, to the beach, for a total of 11 miles, each way.  It's a bike and walk only trail.  It does cross some streets.
