Lake Lewis Campground is a small, relatively secluded location with only 85 camp sites.  The altitude is approximately 7500 feet.  It's located on beautiful Lewis Lake.  Beautiful trees, water, and mountains, it doesn't get much better than this.  The campground is self registration, first come, first served.  As you can see from the pictures (under the PHOTOS tab) there was some snow still on the ground when I visited the campground in June 2013.  Sorry, there is a 25' limit on RV's using this campground.  This is due to tight roads with overhanging trees.  It's a perfect location for smaller RV's towing boats.

This is dry camping.  Campsites have a picnic table and fire ring.  The camp roads are paved but, parking pads are crushed rock.  There is drinking water available.  No dump station.

The campground is in a secluded area, the closest amenities are at Colter Bay to the south or Grants Village to the north on highway 191.   Coter Bay and Grants Village both have gas stations, showers, and laundry.  Showers and laundry are not available in the campground.

The closest bike riding is on a paved bike trail that starts at Jenny Lake and goes south to Jackson.  I recommend this trail for a nice day ride.  It's paved, brand new, and runs through an amazingly beautiful area.  Take the bikes and make a day of it.  Unfortunately, there are no trails from Lewis Lake down to Jenny Lake.  You will need to take the bikes on the car down to Jenny lake.  Riding on highway 191 may be dangerous.  Bike lanes are not provided on this highway.

There are also boat tours available on Jenny Lake.  It's another great ways to spend the day.  Take a day pack with you.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON CELL AND DATA SERVICE:

Cell service is sporadic at best.  In most parts of the park there is no phone service no matter how good your carrier is.  For cell service you will need to visit one of the lodges or villages.  Most campgrounds have no service.

Cellular DATA:  Same story, no Internet/data service.  Even if you can get service at a lodge or village it's still painfully slow.  The best thing to do is to go to Old Faithful Village or Canyon Village and find the Global Gossip Hot Spot.  It will be in a sitting room.  They have a very fast Internet connection for about $5 per hour.  It was worth the price.  The phone number for them is (877) 658-5597
