Local Recreation:

There is always something to do at the Dunes.  Take a short walk to Main Street on Balboa Island and enjoy the shops and restaurants.  Ride across on the car ferry to the Bay Island fun zone.  A short distance farther is the Balboa pier.  Bike riding on the boardwalk is always fun and there are seval bike rental shops available.  There is also a Back Bay Golf Course located just across the street from the resort.  It's non-stop fun, food, and entertainment every time you visit.  Take a look at the pictures tab to see the parks amenities.  Also visit Fashion Island.  It's a large, up scale, open air mall that is close to the park.  You can also bring your boat and launch it at the resort on the resorts launch ramp.  Take a kayak tour through the beautiful back bay using your own kayak or rent one in the park.

Bird watching is very popular in this area with a large habitat available in the Back Bay Area.

Back Bay Bristol is also located in the parks marina.  It's a great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  It's fine dining and they do a great job.

One mile south of the campground is Sherman Library and Gardens.  Located at 2647 East Coast Highway, Corona Del Mar.  Sherman Library & Gardens is a 2.2 acre Corona del Mar horticultural retreat. The Gardens provide a museum of living plants, displayed amidst a setting of immaculate gardens, patios and conservatories linked together by wide brick walkways, beds blooming with seasonal flowers and bubbling tile fountains.  It's a wonderful spot to spend some time.  Please see the link on the right side of this page.

Located in the Bay Area at Newport Dunes is Pirate Coast Paddle.  They rent paddle boards and give lessons.  They even have night tours.  Very fun, see the link on the right side of this page for their web site.

Take a short walk over to Balboa Island.  There is an old downtown area with numerous shops and restaurants.

There is an El Monte RV rental office on the property, see the ads to the right of this page.

Big rigs to approximately 45 feet can be accommodated.
