California, Stone Creek Campground , Mount San Jacinto State Park. 

Directions:

The campground is located approximately 16 miles from Interstate-10 in the city of Banning.  All travel from Banning is on winding mountain roads.  Big rigs are not recommended.

From Interstate 10 in Banning, take exit 100 and follow the signs to Highway 243.  Take highway 243 Southeast for approximately 15 miles.  Look for the campground sign on the left side of the road.  It will be Forest Route 4S02, the street sign may say Azalia Trails Road.  The campground will be up Azalia in half a mile.  

Palm Springs is located approximately 60 miles from this campground.

Stone Creek Campground, MT. SAN JACINTO State Park is open from mid-May through mid-September  The campground is located at 5,500 feet so snow chains may be necessary at times.  The campground has approximately 50 RV and Tent camp spots. The largest RV that can be accommodated in an RV spot is 24 feet.  Most RV spots are 18 feet.  Double parking camp spots are available.  All camp spots have large shade trees, a fire ring, and a picnic table.  A limited number of camp spots have electric.  Drinking water and restrooms are also available.  

The campground is located in a wooded setting with Mount San Jacinto in the background.  It's a very peaceful location.  

Note:  Burning wood in the fire ring is not allowed at times due to the California drought.  Please check with the local ranger for current conditions.  Only propane burners may be allowed.

Local Recreation:

The most popular activity from this campground is hiking.  There is an extensive trail system in the area.  It's a bueatiful place to hike with large pine trees and enormous granite mountains.

Road touring by motorcycle or car is also popular from this camp spot.  Highway 243 runs past the campground and is a very scenic drive.  The small town of Idyllwild is just 10 miles to the southeast on highway 243.  For a larger road tour, take a large loop around Mount San Jacinto and pass through Palm Springs on the northern side of the loop.  It's approximately a 100 mile loop.  

Lake Fulmor is just six miles to the Northwest of the campground.  The lake is right on highway 243 and it's a great spot to spend the day.
