California, Mineral Bar Campground is located on the North Fork of the American River. 

Directions:

From Hwy 80 in Colfax exit at Canyon Way, head north on Canyon way turn right onto Iowa Hill Road. 3 mile paved road to sites and river.  Cross over the river and the campground is there on the left side.  Campbase would like to discourage anyone with a camper/RV from visiting this campground.  The access road is truely terrable with trees overhanging.  Numerous sharp, I mean sharp turns.  And when you get to the campground you will see that its really a tent campground only.

Note:  Use caution when entering or leaving the campground.  Its on a blind corner.

Mineral Bar Campground.  There are some of those campgrounds you regret ever visiting.  In this case I drove 3 miles on extremely narrow roads that had numerous dangerous twists and turns.  Got to this tiny campground and they wanted $10 for me to take a quick look inside.  I said no and took some quick pictures from the road.  To the campground operators.  There is a universal unwritten law that says, someone looking for a camp spot can look for free for 30 minutes.  After that fees apply.  All the campgrounds do it this way, you should to.

Mineral Bar Campground is located on the east side of the North Fork American River, where the Colfax Iowa Hill Road crosses the river. There are 15 designated campsites with tables, firepits, and dry toilets. No drinking water is available. A narrow paved road serves the campground. There is a 14 day camping limit. Dogs are allowed.  There may be wood burning restrictions.
