Comment

Sentinel Campground has 82 RV and tent camp spots.  The campground is seasonal and closes during the winter months.  The campground opens in April  and closes in October.  Check the campgrounds web site for the exact days.  Set in Kings canyon along the Kings river in a bueatiful pine forest, it's an amazing camp spot.

No reservations are required, the campground is First come, First served.

Sentinel has larger pads and many pull-round pads for RV's.  Rv's up to approximately 35 feet can be accommodated however, the highway into the area is challenging for large RV's.  Some spots are located on the King River.

Sentinel Campground in Kings Canyon is at a lower altitude than Sequoia National Park and is generally about 10 degrees warmer.  Getting an RV into the campground can be a bit challenging due to narrow, steep, and winding roads.  See the photos section for a picture of the narrow highway.   Make sure your vehicles brakes are in excellent working condition.

There are three gas stations in the National Park.  Kings Canyon Lodge, Hume Lake, and Stony Creek Village.  Diesel is available at the last two.  Campbase recommends filling your vehicles fuel tank before entering the National Park.  Fuel is not available within 10 miles of the campground.  Fuel is not available at Cedar Village.

Dump stations are located at Potwisha, Lodgepole, Princess, and Dorst Creek campgrounds.  The closest to Sentinel Campground is at Princess Campground, approximately 15 miles away.

Bear boxes are provided in every campground in the park.  All food must be stored in these boxes unless it's kept out of sight in an RV.  Food may not be left out at any time.  Additional bear rules and information can be found at the restrooms.  Do not feed the bears at any time.
