Description

California, Coloma Resort is located on the South Fork of the American River.

Directions:  

From the town of Coloma Heights take Coloma Heights Road and go Northwest for a few blocks.  Toy will see on the left the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park.  Take a right turn there onto Mount Murphy Road.  Cross over the bridge and the resort will be there on the right side.

Coloma Resort has cabins, tenting, group sites, bunk house, and RV camp spots.  The resort has approximately 100 camp spots.  Waterfront camp sites on the American River are available.  River front camp sites do not have sewer connections, water and electric only.  The resort has a security gate and you will need the key code to enter the park.  To access the resort you will pass over the American River on a one lane bridge.  Its one vehicle at a time.  The height of the bridge is just 13 feet, 6 inches.  So, make sure your RV is not to large to get through this bridge.  The resort is really quite nice and a great spot to stay when visiting the area.  Everything in town is within a short walk from the campground.  Many camp spots in this resort have direct access to the American River.  Most spots have shade from oak trees in the resort.  There is also a small camp store with some of the essentials.  Camp roads and parking pads are all crushed rock.

Gold panning on the American River.  Most of the gold is gone but it never hurts to see if the missed some.  You can buy a pan from the Marshall Gold Discovery Museum.
