Description

Wyoming, Fishing Bridge, Yellowstone National Park.

Enter from the south entrance and travel approximately 60 miles north to the campground.  When you reach West Thumb take a right turn and run north along Yellowstone Lake.  Past Bridge Bay marina take the right turn to Fishing Bridge and toward the East exit.  It will be on the left side about a mile past the Visitors center.

These directions can be confusing, so look it up before you depart.  NOTE: The campground does not have an address therefore, the map pin displayed on the map page is not accurate.

Comment

This campground is for "hard sided" campers only.  It's a large RV park.  The spots have an irregular design.  The ceptic and electric is located in the center of a two pad site.  I had difficulty because my door opened into a pine tree and there was no place to sit.  I changed sites and the second site worked out better with a bit more room.  These sites are tight together with little room after the pop out is extended.

The campground roads are paved but, there are numerous pot holes so you'll need to drive slow.  There are some pictures of the roads pot holes on the "photos" tab.

There is a grocery store, gas station and ice machine right outside the entrance to the campground.

There are NO picnic tables or fire rings.  Fires are not permitted.

There are lots of bears in the area so use caution.

Its a great campground because it has full hookups but, the location is not very central to the rest of the park.  A better central location would be Canyon Campground.  However, that is dry camping.  It's a bit of a trade off .

I rode my bike from Fishing Bridge to Lake Village and there was a bike lane the entire way but, the rest of the park is NOT bicycle friendly.  Campbase does not recommend road bicycling in the park.

The Miskitos were thick in the evenng and they drove everyone inside.  We were there in mid June 2013.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON CELL AND DATA SERVICE:

Cell service is sporadic at best.  In most parts of the park there is no phone service no matter how good your carrier is.  For cell service you will need to visit one of the lodges or villages.  Most campgrounds have no service.

Cellular DATA:  Same story, no Internet/data service.  Even if you can get service at a lodge or village it's still painfully slow.  The best thing to do is to go to Old Faithful Village or Canyon Village and find the Global Gossip Hot Spot.  It will be in a sitting room.  They have a very fast Internet connection for about $5 per hour.  It was worth the price.  The phone number for them is (877) 658-5597

The campground is managed by Xanterra Resorts.

Camping and lodging reservations can be made at   www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com. The only reservable campgrounds in Yellowstone National Park are Madison Campground, Grant Village Campground, Canyon Campground, Bay Bridge Campground, and Fishing Bridge Campground.
