Description

Hume Lake Campground, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park.  This campground does not have an address, the address used here is a general park address.  The Campbase map provided here is accurate for the campgrounds location.

Directions:

Near Princess Campground on highway 180 is the entrance to the four mile road that leads to Hume Lake.  Look for the Hume Lake sign on highway 180.  See the Campbase map.

Note: Due to road conditions, RVs larger than 22 feet should enter the park from Fresno on highway 180.  There are numerous turn-outs for slower vehicles.  The highway is winding and better suited for the larger RVs.   Campbase used a 32 foot RV for this trip and it worked out fine.  RV's should not use the parks southern entrance.

Comment

Hume Lake Campground is located down a narrow, unstriped highway, four miles from highway 180.  See the photos tab for a picture of the road.  Campbase took a 32 foot RV down this road without issues.  The campground is located on a hill above Hume Lake with only a few camp spots facing the lake.  No camp spots are actually on the lake however, they are close.

There are three gas stations in the National Park.  Kings Canyon Lodge, Hume Lake, and Stony Creek Village.  Diesel is available at the last two.  Campbase recommends filling your vehicles fuel tank before entering the National Park.

Dump stations are located at Potwisha, Lodgepole, Princess, and Dorst Creek campgrounds.  The closest to Hume Lake Campground is at Princess Campground, approximately 5 miles away.

Bear boxes are provided in every campground in the park.  All food must be stored in these boxes unless it's kept out of sight in an RV.  Food may not be left out at any time.  Additional bear rules and information can be found at the restrooms.  Do not feed the bears at any time.

Note about Hume Lake:  The lake is small and only suited for small kayaks or paddle boards.

Hume Lake is reservable at Reserve America by clicking th red "Book now" button above.
