Description

Princess Campground, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park.  The campground does not have an address therefore, the address used here is a general park address.  The Campbase map provided here is accurate for the campgrounds location.

Directions:

From Fresno, take highway 180 eastbound toward the park.  Continue north on highway 180 toward Grant Grove.  Pass through Grant Grove Village and continue north and east for an additional nine miles.  the campground will be on the right side of the road before the Hume Lake exit.

Note: Due to road conditions, RVs larger than 22 feet should enter the park from Fresno on highway 180.  There are numerous turn-outs for slower vehicles.  The highway is winding and better suited for the larger RVs.   Campbase used a 32 foot RV for this trip and it worked out fine.  RV's should not use the parks southern entrance.

Comment

Princess Campground is located in a remote area of the Sequoia National Forest with 88 RV and tent camp spots available.  The location was a commercial Sequoia Tree logging operation in the 1800's.  The large stumps of numerous trees dot the campground.  RV's up to approximately 35 feet can be accommodated.  The campground is located in a remote area of the park where the closest services are approximately three miles away at Hume Lake.  Grant Grove Village is approximately 10 miles away. The highway to the campground is not well suited for large RV's but, passable.

There are three gas stations in the National Park.  Kings Canyon Lodge, Hume Lake, and Stony Creek Village.  Diesel is available at the last two.  Campbase recommends filling your vehicles fuel tank before entering the National Park.

Princess Campground has a dump station.  There is a $10 fee to use the station.  Additional dump stations are located at Potwisha, Lodgepole, and Dorst Creek campgrounds.

Bear boxes are provided in every campground in the park.  All food must be stored in these boxes unless it's kept out of sight in an RV.  Food may not be left out at any time.  Additional bear rules and information can be found at the restrooms.  Do not feed the bears at any time.
