Description

Sunset Campground, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park.  The campground does not have an address therefore, the address used here is a general park address.  The Campbase map provided here is accurate for the campgrounds location.

Directions:

Sunset Campground is located 3 miles (5 km) from Kings Canyon Park entrance. The campground is located near Grant Grove Village in an open stand of evergreens.

Note: Due to road conditions, RVs larger than 22 feet should enter the park from Fresno on highway 180.  There are numerous turn-outs for slower vehicles.  The highway is winding and better suited for the larger RVs.   Campbase used a 32 foot RV for this trip and it worked out fine.  RV's should not use the parks southern entrance.

Plase see the Campbase map tab provided here for the exact location.

There are groceries, restaurant, and showers located 1/4 mile away at Grant Grove Village across the highway from the campground.  What they don't have is a laundry, fuel, or dump station.  The Visitors Center is also conveniently located across the highway at the village.

There are three gas stations in the National Park.  Kings Canyon Lodge, Hume Lake, and Stony Creek Village.  Diesel is available at the last two.  Campbase recommends filling your vehicles fuel tank before entering the National Park.

Dump stations are located at Potwisha, Lodgepole, Princess, and Dorst Creek campgrounds.  The closest to Moraine Campground is At Princess Campground, approximately 15 miles away.

Bear boxes are provided in every campground in the park.  All food must be stored in these boxes unless it's kept out of sight in an RV.  Food may not be left out at any time.  Additional bear rules and information can be found at the restrooms.  Do not feed the bears at any time.
