Arch Rock Campground in the Valley of Fire State Park is open all year with 32 RV or tent camp spots.  Arch Rock campground is located near the western park entrance.  All camp spots are first-come, first-served.  The campground has no hookups, dry camping only.  Ice is not available in the park.  Firewood is available at the Visitors Center.  The best time to visit the park is during the fall or spring.  Summer temperatures are usually over 100 degrees.  All Camp spots have shaded picnic tables for those extremely hot summer days.  Campbase estimates that RV's up to 40 feet can be accommodated in some of campgrounds spots. However, Atlatl Rock Campground is best for the longer rigs.  Campbase recommends rigs no longer than 35 feet in Arch Rock Campground due to average camp spot sizes and narrow park entrance roads.

Since there is a limited number of first-come, first-served camp spots, it's best to arrive in the park no later than noon in order to secure a spot.  During the spring and fall(peak seasons), camp spots are completely gone by 2:00 P.M.  If all Camp spots are taken the next closest camping location is on BLM land outside the West and East entrances.  The BLM camping is all primitive.  Look at the bottom of this page for additional nearby campgrounds.

The parks beauty comes from the red Aztec sandstone rocks. The park is located in a desert area near the Overton Arm of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

There is no cellular service in most of the park.  A pay phone is available at the visitors center.

Local Recreation:

Hiking and climbing are by far the most popular activities in the park.  There are loads of great trails in the park area including Rainbow Vista Trail, Prospect Trail, and Balancing Rock Trail to name a few.

For a driving tour try White Dome Road.  There are loads of sights to see right from the highway.

Photography is popular in the park with thousands of photo opportunities.  You almost can't take a bad picture.  See the Campbase "Photos" tab for a few examples.

Petrified wood is viewable just off the main park road near the campgrounds.  There are several fenced in areas with petrified wood. Please see the Campbase "Photos" tab for a few pictures.
