Kentucky, Big Bone Lick State Historic Site

Directions:

North or Southbound on Highway-75, take exit 171 in the small town of Walton.  Go towards the West for one block and take a right onto Beaver Road that will run North along Highway-75.  Beaver Road goes north for a while and then turns Westbound.  Continue for several miles crossing over Highway-42.  After just a few more miles, turn left into Big Bone Lick State Park.

Big Bone Lick State Historic Site.  The park is open all year however, camping is only available from March through November.  62 Tent and RV camp sites are available.  The park has restrooms, showers, and a laundry room.  There is also a seasional camp store and gift shop.  Most camp spots are shaded. RV' up to 43 feet can be accommodated however, most sites are around 35 feet.  The park has the fossilized remains of giant mastodons, wolly mammoths, and ground sloths.  The fossles were discovered in 1739 and are displayed in the parks museum.
