Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.  A camping trip to the Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park makes for a beautiful getaway for sightseeing, rock climbing and hiking. The park protects the most dramatic section of the Gunnison River Canyon.  Its like no other canyon in North America.  Three campgrounds are located inside the park.  The South Rim Campground is the largest, North Rim Campground and the Portal Campground.  Campbase recommends the South Rim Campground for its location and amenities.  South Rim Campground has A, B, and C loops.  All loops have vault toilets and drinking water.  Loop B also has electric hookups.  All loops have bear boxes, picnic tables, and fire rings.  Wood is not available in the park so bring what you need.  Some sites are first-come, first-served but most are by reservation.  Visit the parks link provided above for reservations.  The nearest town is Montros where you will find most services including fuel, markets, and restaurants.  Montros is approximately 10 miles outside the park.  The park does not have good cell service or WiFi.  The South Rim Visitors Center is just a short drive from the campground.
