Colorado, Chief Hosa Campground

Chief Hosa is a public campground facility owned and operated by the City and County of Denver. The campground is located in Genesee Park only 20 minutes west of Denver.  Camping facilities are located on the south side of Interstate 70, exit 253.

Chief Hosa campground has a total of 48 campsites: 24 RV sites with water and power, and 24 tent sites. Most sites are located in a Ponderosa Pine woodland with shade. Trails, picnic sites, and recreational facilities are located nearby in Genesee Park. The bison herd is often available for viewing at nearby overlooks. The Chief Hosa Lodge adjacent to the campground is available for weddings and rentals. Many restaurants, stores, and tourist destinations are located in the vicinity.  RV and Campground facilities are open the third week of May through the fourth week of September each year.  Reservation for the 2026 season (May 16 – September 26) will be available at 8:00 a.m. on February 11, 2026.

Chief Hosa Campground requires a camping reservation. No in-person or phone payments for reservations will be accepted. Same-day reservations will be based on availability and must be booked by guests through our online reservation system. Guests may access our reservation system at the campground office during open hours for those who cannot make reservations on their own device. Same-day reservations will be available until 8:00 p.m. 

Please be advised that our tent sites are exclusively designed for TENT CAMPING only. Vehicle campers (Class B vans, cargo vans, trucks or truck campers, pop-up trailers or any type of trailer, and roof-top vehicle tents) are kindly requested to utilize the RV sites for their camping needs.
