Description

California, Chris Flat Campground is located in Walker Canyon which is a National Scenic Byway. The Walker River is known for fishing opportunities. The Walker River is stocked with trout.

Directions:

From Bridgeport on Highway-395, travel Northbound(towards Reno) for approximately 20 miles.   The campground will be on right hand side of highway.

Chris Flat Campground is located just off U.S. Highway 395 in Walker Canyon which is a National Scenic Byway. The West Walker River is located directly adjacent to this campground, providing ample fishing opportunities.   The campground is located at 6,600 feet.  It is well suited for tent and RV camping.  Campbase recommends RV's no longer than 30 feet.  The campsites offer picnic tables and campfire rings.  Drinking water and vault toilets are available. Garbage service is provided.  Firewood is available for purchase from the campground host.  The campground is seasional being open from April through October.  

A free California Camp Fire Permit issued by CalFire is required for campfire, barbecue, and portable stove use. 

Note:  The Northern campground loop was closed during the Campbase visit in 2026.  Camp spots 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 were closed.
