Comment

Flagstaff KOA Campground is open all year with 200 RV and tent camp spots.  Camp cabins are also available.  The campground is located in a pine forest with most camp spots being level or near level.  Some camp spots will require the vehicle to be leveled. The wifi was excellent and it was free.  Cellular service is also good from the campground.  Most camp spots had shade trees.  Most big rigs can be accommodated.  Fire rings are not available.  Ground fires are not allowed in the city of Flagstaff due to year round fire dangers.  The office has small red containers for burning small fires.  See the photos tab.  The campground is near fuel, restaurants and other services.

Things to do:

Within walking distance from the campground is the Coconino National Forest.  Hiking and wilderness activities are available.  The web site for the Forest is http://www.fs.usda.gov/coconino/

Make sure you visit downtown Flagstaff.  There are lots of restaurants and bars in a small walking distance from each other.  It's a great place for an evening walk and dinner.

Visit Meteor Crater.  There is an information center on the craters rim and guided tours are provided.  The crater is approximately 20 miles from the campground.  Winslow was also made popular by a song about "standing on the corner" in Winslow, Arizona.

Winslow, Arizona is approximately 50 miles from this campground.  Winslow has several old buildings that are great for photography.

A bit farther away, 90 miles, is the National Petrified Forest.  The fallen trees are quite interesting not to mention bueatifully colored.  Petrified wood can be purchased outside the park.
