Located approximately 1.3 miles north of downtown Moab on highway 191.

If you are southbound on highway 191 it's about one mile after you cross over the Colorado River and before downtown Moab.

Comment

Portal RV Campground has 82 RV camp spots and approximately 10 tent camp site spots.  The campground is adjacent to the Matheson Wetlands Preserve.

The campground is over a mile from downtown Moab.  It's a great walk if you need a little exercise.  Downtown Moab has all kinds of shops and restaurants.  It's a great place to spend the day walking around or riding your bike.  The campground is not the closest campground to downtown but, it's still a good location for launching your daily activities.  The entrance to Arches National Park is just five miles north on highway 191.

This is a modern campground however, the trees are still small and growing as of 2013.  Therefore, the shade is limited.  The campground roads are in good shape and all RV parking areas are crushed rock. Spaces are large and you won't face your neighbor.   Please see the PHOTOS tab above.

There is a paved bike trail that starts in front of the campground and runs well past Arches NP however, it does not go into the park.  In general, road bicycle riding in the park is discouraged.  There are no bike lanes and it would not appear to be a safe adventure.  Look at the off road bicycle options.

There are numerous touring companies in downtown Moab.  These touring companies have every kind of tour imaginable.  From river raft trips to Jeep tours.  Click one of the picture boxes on the right side of this page for more information on touring.

Arches National Park and the surrounding area are basically a photographers paradise.  Please see some of my pictures under the PHOTOS tab.

This campground does not have fire rings but each site does have a barbeque and picnic table.

Have fun in the park.
