California, Sage Hill Group Campground

Directions:

From Santa Barbara, take highway 154 and go Northbound for approximately 10 miles to Paradise Road and go right.  Travel out paradise road for approximately four miles.  Look for the group campground sign on the left side of the highway at the ranger station.

Sage Hill Group Campground.  A Forest closure due to fires was in affect during our visit to this area in 2020.  Call ahead to verify the campground is open and available.  The campground is generally open year around.  

There are 5 group campsites. Flat area, next to the river, some sites are shady, oak trees, paved roads. Tables, group barbecues, firepits, water faucets, flush toilets, R/V - no hookups. Closest dump station is at Cachuma Lake. Firewood can be purchased from the camp host.  Access to the Santa Ynez River. The Aliso interpretive trail begins at this campground. There is river access to the Santa Ynez River along the last 6 miles of Paradise Road. Watch out for poison oak. One site has 12 corrals and hitching post for equestrian use, each site holds 25-50 people.  There is also plague reported in the area caused by flees on the local rodents.

Recreation in the Area:

Horsebacking and hiking are popular nearby at Rancho Oso where you will find boarding and corrals. 

Nearby is Lake Cachuma.  This is a large lake with fishing and boating available.  Body contact with lake water is not allowed.

Downtown Santa Barbara is just 15 miles from the park.  Its a great spot to spend the day with restaurants, beaches and piers.

Chumash Casino and resort is located approximately 10 miles to the West.

The small dutch town of Solvang is also located 10 miles to the west and is a great location for bakeries and restaurants.
