Nevada, Washoe Lake State Park

Directions:

On Highway-396(State-580) proceed Northbound from Carson City for approximately 4 miles.  Exit the freeway at Eastlake Blvd.  Go right at the bottom of the ramp.  Travel approximately 3 miles to the parks entrance that will be on the left side of the highway.

Washoe Lake State Park Campground is open all year with 49 RV or tent camp spots.  24 of these sites are water and electric hookups.  Loop A has the electric and water connections while loop B is dry camping.  Camp spots do not have sewer hookups, a dump station is provided.  The lake is a bit shallow and there can be algae blooms in the summer.  Swimming is not recommended when there is a lot of algae in the water.  When Campbase visited this location there were large amounts of pollin in the water, see our pictures in the photos tab.  There are wild horses in the park, see our photos tab.  The park has firewood for sale and WiFi was also available.  Cell services was available with 3 bars.  ADA sites were available.  

Flying insects:  When Campbase visited, there were millions of small flying insects.  It was early summer so they may have just hatched.  They covered the RV, inside and out.  When I departed, the bugs were flying off the RV at every stop for at least 20 miles.  When I got home, I blew them out of the vehicle, then vaccumed them out.  It took days for me to get them out of the vehicle.  Fortunatly, they were not attracted to people and did not bite.  See our photos tab.
