West and East Pinewood Campground is one of four campgrounds in the park.  MacKerricher State Park is open all year with 143 RV and tent camp spots.  RV's up to 35 feet can be accommodated.  The park has 4 seperate campgrounds, they are:  East and West Pinewood campgrounds, Cleon Campground, and Surfwood Campground.  Each campground has water, restrooms, and pay showers.  There is also a pay dump station available.  All camp sites are back-in sites.  For closeness to the beach choose Surfwood Campground.  For quick access to Cleon Lake choose Cleon Campground.  Campground roads are all paved.  Parking pads are crushed rock.

The park is in a forrested area with easy beach access.  Its located a short distance from Fort Bragg where shops, markets, banks, and fuel is available.  Nearby Laguna Point Beach offers beach, bluff, headland, dune, forest and wetland habitats as well as a good lookout for whale watching and observing harbor seal rookeries.

In addition to the beach the Haul Road or Costal Hiking Trail runs right through the park.  Its a great biking trail that runs South to Fort Bragg.  Its approximately 6 miles long and runs along the beach
