Colorado, White Star Campground

Directions:

From Leadville, travel 15 miles south on U.S. Highway 24 to Colorado Highway 82. Turn right and continue west on Highway 82. Turn left past Mount Elbert Power Plant into the campground.

White Star Campground is generally open May through September. Opening and closing dates are weather dependent. Services such as water, trash or a host may not be available during the early and late season.

White Star Campground is in ponderosa pine and sage habitat at 9,300 feet on the northern shore of Twin Lakes Reservoir. Facilities include picnic tables with lantern poles, fire rings with grates and vault toilets.

There are three loops in which to find your perfect campsite: Sage and Valley Loops have reservable sites, while Ridge Loop is first come, first served.

A boat ramp, parking and angler fishing areas are just down the road from the campground.

High altitude sickness may occur at this altitude.
