Comment

Very large campground with a total of 430 sites however, the full campground is not always open.  During my visit only 281 sites were available.  The campground has a mix of tent sites and large RV sites.  Pull throughts are not available but there are pull around sites.  Other sites are back in.  This campground is the best location if you are planning on accessing the Yellowstone Lake.  There is a launch ramp available and also boat rentals.  Tours can also be arranged at the marina.  The campground is not a good central location for accessing the entire park.  Driving times to the north end of the park can be long from this location.  If you are interested in a central location, stay at Canyon Campground.

Laundry and showers are available.

Most of the spots do not have shade trees.

Campground access roads are paved and in great shape.  All parking pads are paved and also in great shape.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON CELL AND DATA SERVICE:

Cell service is sporadic at best.  In most parts of the park there is no phone service no matter how good your carrier is.  For cell service you will need to visit one of the lodges or villages.  Most campgrounds have no service.

Cellular DATA:  Same story, no Internet/data service.  Even if you can get service at a lodge or village it's still painfully slow.  The best thing to do is to go to Old Faithful Village or Canyon Village and find the Global Gossip Hot Spot.  It will be in a sitting room.  They have a very fast Internet connection for about $5 per hour.  It was worth the price.  The phone number for them is (877) 658-5597

Camping and lodging reservations can be made at   www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com. The only reservable campgrounds in Yellowstone National Park are Madison Campground, Grant Village Campground, Canyon Campground, Bay Bridge Campground, and Fishing Bridge Campground.
