Campland on the Bay is in a great location on Mission Bay.  It's right on the bay with a wildlife sanctuary adjacent to the campground.  There is a private beach, marina and launch ramp at this location.  Camping rates vary depending on the spot from $45 to $280.  The campground does have a two day minimum on the weekend.  Full hookups are available however, many spots are just water and electric.  Bring your beach cruiser bike to this one, there is a bicycle path that almost circles Mission Bay.  There is an endless array of things to do at this campground.  Be ready to have some fun.  There are sail boat, kayak, and jet ski rentals available in the marina.  Most sites have plenty of shade and a fire ring.

This campground is very popular with the local San Diego residence so, obtaining a reservation can be difficult during the summer months.  It's even busy in the middle of the week.  So busy that its difficult to drive a vehicle in the park with all the kids on bikes.  The parks speed limit is 5 miles per hour.  This is a family campground for the kids but, its also for the party types.  If I had just one word to describe the campground, i would call it active.  If you are looking for peace and quiet, you wont find it here.  If you dont want to hear your neighbors music, then this isnt the park for you.  The good news is that at 11:00 every night they shut down the noise makers.  There are approximately 500 camp spots so, its a very large campground.  The campground even has a shuttle bus.

Ice propane and firewood are available at the camp store.

This campground also has tent camping.

RV and boat storage is available at the campground.

Reservations can be made online or by phone.  Campbase used the phone method and it worked very well.  They will email you a confirmation number.  Check the campgrounds web site for the online reservations.

The campground has discounts for Military, Good Sam, and AAA.  Make sure you let them know if you are a member.

Local Recreation:

Make sure to visit the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Aerospace Museun in Balboa Park.

Mission Bay has a bike trail that circles the bay and passes Sea World, Beaches, Restaurants, and marinas.  It's about an 8 mile loop.  Further south in San Diego Bay is another 24-mile bicycle route called the Bayshore Bikeway.  It starts in downtown San Diego and ends near the Coronado Hotel after circling the bay.

The campground has jet ski and Hobie Cat rentals.
