California, Hornswoggle Group Campground

From Camptonville:   Drive south on Hwy 49 to Marysville Road and turn right. Continue for 4 miles. Campground is across the road from Schoolhouse Campground.

Hornswoggle Group Campground is located near Bullard's Bar Reservoir. It is just 1 mile from the Dark Day boat ramp and 3 miles from the Cottage Creek boat ramp. There are four 25 person campsites and one 50 person campsites. There are flush and vault toilets and central parking for each group site.  Each site has drinking water, toilets, picnic tables, BBQ, and bear box.  Bears may be active in this area.  The area is well shaded with trees.  This is primarily tent camping for groups of 25 and 50 however, with the large parking area at each campsite RV's might be able to be accommodated.  There is no lake view or direct lake access.  The best lake access is one mile up the road at the Dark Day Launch facility.  CAMPING PERMITS can be found at Emerald Cove Marina located nearby.  Cell service was ok from this location.  Starlink may have problems with all the tall trees.
