Auxiliary Dam Recreation Site is an open campging area along the shore of Lake Isabella.  Recreation area roads are all dirt.  Limited shade available.  Entrance fee is $10.  Located at 2,500 feet, the recreation area is open all year.  Camp spots are first come, first served.  There are approximately 15 camp spots near the restroom and highway.  The spots have a picnic table and a fire ring.  They are easier to get into than the spots down on the lake.  Roads down to the lake are a bit rough.  Most campers do camp along the water.  Around the lake is open dry camping.  There are no restrooms or water down in this area along the lake.  There is a camp host near the entrance to the campground.  There is no off roading equipment allowed in the Auxiliary Dam Recreatin Area.

Permits are required for any kind of fire.

There are no showers and only a few shade trees.

Local Recreation:

Road touring and sightseeing are popular in Kernville and the Sequoia National Forest.

Boating and fishing on Lake Isabella.  Lake levels are low due to the California drought but, fishing is still great.  With all the trees in the water, water skiing is not recommended.

The Kern River and Kernville are just a few miles from the campground.  Rafting, tubing, and fly fishing are popular in Kernville.  There are several adventure outfitters in town.  Fly fishing guides are also available.  Kernville also has several restaurants and souvenir shops.
