California, Cachuma Lake Recreation Area

Directions:

From the South: From Highway 101 north in Santa Barbara.  Take the “Cachuma Lake/Highway 154” exit and follow the signs. Drive approximately 18 miles.  There is a park sign ½ mile before the entrance, and there is a right turn lane at the park entrance.
 
From the North: Take Highway 101 south to the “Cachuma Lake/Highway 154" exit.  Make a left at the stop sign and drive approximately 14 miles.  There is a sign ¼ mile before the park entrance, and there is a left turn lane.

Cachuma Lake Recreation Area campgrounds are open all year with a total of 420 camp spots.  There are four campgrounds located on Cachuma Lake.  The lake is near the cities of Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez.  100 camp spots have full hookups.  Each camp site has a fire ring and picnic table.  Showers, restrooms, Laundry, camp store, drinking water and a dump station are available.  Cachuma Lake is a domestic water supply, and as such, swimming, water-skiing, windsurfing or any other body contact with the water is prohibited.  Cachuma Lake is a short drive from the Santa Barbara area.  The camping areas in the park are:  Dakota, Barona, Apache, Mohawk.  Maps of these campgrounds can be found here:

The park also has yurts and cabins available for rental.  Please see our PHOTOS tab for pictures from inside the yurts.  Boating and fishing are popular on the lake.  The parks camp store has most of the essentials including firewood and ice.  There are fuel pumps at the camp store.
