Lake McSwain Park and Lake McClure are both accessed through the same park entry point.  Lake McClure is nine miles inside the park while Lake McSwain is located at the parks entrance.  There is the Splash N Dash water park located near the Lake McSwain campground.  Its located in/on the lake and consists of numerous floats for the kids that swim well.  Please see our pictures tab for pictures.  The lake is part of the Merced River and runs 9 miles up to the Lake McClure dam.  This part of the river is a bit narrow so, jet skiis are not allowed.  Boat speed limit is 10 MPH making this lake more suitable for small fishing boats and kayaks.  Campbase recommends small fishing boats but, check with the park and see what is allowed.  Camp spots were large with direct river access, see our campground photos.  Lake McSwain Park is located in Yosemite Mariposa County’s northwest. Perfect for water sports, camping, and fishing.   The sunny, high-elevation makes the park ideal for summer camping.  There is a market and small cafe inside the park.  Large RV's to approximately 35 feet can be accommodated.  Pull through sites were available.  Camp roads and parking pads were all paved.  Each site had a picnic table and a fire ring.  Some sites had small shelters above the picnic table.  Cell service was poor.  Note: one camping area has full hookups while the other is electric and water only.
