Description

Colorado, Los Alamos Group, Lathrop State Park has easy access to Interstate-25 and easy access to services.

Directions:

From Interstate-25 in the small town of Walsenburg, take the 5th street or Highway 160 exit.  Highway 160 will "S" turn through downtown Walsenburg.  Go left on Main Street and then right onto 7th street.  Follow Highway-160 out of town.  After approximately three miles the parks entrance will be on the right side of the highway.

Los Alamos Group, Lathrop State Park is open all year with tent and RV Camp spots available.  Three group campgrounds are available in the park.  Los Alamos group campground can accommodate 7 RV's and tenting.  It's located right on the banks of Martin Lake.  Spots have electricity available along with accommodations for large group activities.  Reservations are required and can be made by calling 719-738-2376.  A maximum of 50 people can be accommodated in the group site.  Group sites A and B are located in other sections of the park. 

The two lakes have a launch ramp for small boats and kayakers.  These are not large lakes, please see the Campbase photos tab for pictures.  Fishing and small fishing boats are popular on both lakes.

There is also a bike path and hiking trails that pass through the campground. 

The park also has a nine hole golf course with a restaurant.  The greens are excellent and the mountain views from the course ar spectacular.  Please see the Campbase pictures tab.  

Most services are available in the nearby small town of Walsenburg.  It's located just three miles east of the campground at Interstate-25.  The town has fuel, restaurants, markets, banks, and services.
