Description

Arizona, Mather Campground, Grand Canyon National Park is located near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. 

Directions:

From Interstate 40 take highway 64 north out of Williams.  In approximately 60 miles enter the national park.  Proceed a short distance to Center Road and go left.  In approximately one mile take a right onto Market Plaza Road.  Mather campground will be a short distance up on the right.

Mather Campground is located in the Grand Canyon National Park on the south rim of the canyon.  It's in a great location for accessing all areas of the park.  Amenities are also close to the campground.

Primarily a tenting campground however, RV's up to 30 feet are allowed.  Larger RV's should use Trailer Village that is located in the same general area.  There are 327 camp spots.  Mather Campground is conveniently located near the Canyon Village Market Plaza.

No WiFi, No TV.  Cellular phone service is available.
 
There is a Grand Canyon shuttle bus stop near the entrance to the campground.  The bus take visitors to most points in the park and it's free.  Each bus can carry three bikes.
 
The bike paths in the park are extensive and trails are well marked.  The preferred bike for this type of riding is a mountain bike.  Hermits Road is closed to private vehicles but, bicycling is allowed.  It's approximately an eight mile ride out to Hermits Rest.
 
Bike rentals are available near the Informatin Center.
 
There are no showers or laundry at Mather campground.  Showers and laundry are available near the campground entrance at Camper Services.
 
The campground is within walking distance from Market Plaza where there is a general store, bank, and deli.
 
The National Parks official newspaper is "The Guide".  It contains park maps, bus routes, and essential park information.  The Guide can be found at the park entrance, Informatin center, and on each bus.
 
There are several lodges on the south rim including El Tovar, Thunderbird, and Kachina lodges.
 
The Grand Canyon Railroad has railroad tours between the Grand Canyon and Williams Arizoona.
