Description

Arizona, Picacho Peak State Park Campground.  Easy freeway access for big rigs and cars. 

Directins:

Southbound on I-10, South of the small town of Picacho take Exit 219.  Go right off the off-ramp and straight into the park. 

Also located 40 miles north of Tucson on interstate-10.

Picacho Peak State Park Campground has 100 tent, group, and RV camp spots.  The park is located in a picturesque desert setting with the prominent Picacho Peak behind the campground.  Desert nights are wondeful sitting out under the stars.  Big rigs to any size can be accommodated, there is no length limit.  Fuel and restaurants are available just outside the parks entrance a few miles away at the Pilot Travel Center.  The campground has 85 electric only camp spots available.  There are no water or sewer hookups.  RV water is available at the dump station.  Camp roads and parking pads are all paved.  Pull-a-round RV camp spots are available.  Shaded spots are not available.  Each camp spots has a picnic table and fire ring.  The restrooms have showers and were large and clean.  The park and campground are open year round however, the winter months are the best for camping.  Summer tempratures tend to be extremely hot.  Group camp spots are available by reservation.

Local Recreation:

The park has a Civil War point of interest.  The park was the location of the battle of Picacho Pass, the most significant Cival War battle in the west.

Hiking is the most popular activity from this campground with several different trails being available.
