Description

California, Pilot Knob BLM Campground.  The campground has easy big rig access from Interstate-8.

DIRECTIONS:

From I-8 (West from Yuma, AZ/East from El Centro,CA) take the Sidewinder Rd exit. (Exit 164.)   Travel Southbound on Sidewider Rd and it will turn into a dirt road in just a block or two.  The campground will be right there.  Its right there at the Chevron fuel station.

Pilot Knob BLM Campground is open all year however a fee is charged from September 15 through April 15.  This is primitive, open desert camping.  There are no services in the campground. No water, no restrooms, no showers, no paved roads.  Trash dumpsters are available at the park.  Its a great little spot.  Sunsets were wonderful from this campground.  There is a campground host at the entrance to the campging area.  The area is accessible by large RV's.  The ground is mostly hard packed.  Good parking spots are easy to find.  Make sure you give your neighbor plenty of space.  Right at the entrance to the campground is a Chevron fuel station.  In addition to fuel, the Chevron has propane, Ice, and a dump station.  There is also a good size quickie mart.  So this makes staying at Pilot Knob much more convenient.
