South Campground, Zion National Park. There are 127 tent and RV campsites (including three wheelchair accessible) available first-come, first-served.  Reservations are not available for this campground. There are no hook-ups; a dump station is available for RV's. Generators are allowed from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Most camp sites have shade trees.  All camp roads are paved.  The free National Park bus stops near the campground.  The bus takes riders to most points in the park and also into the town of Springale.  It's a short five minute bus ride from the campground.  Springdale is a wonderful small western town that has numerous restaurants, markets, and shops.  Taking the bus through town is an excellent way to see the area.  Quite a bit of fun actually.  Just park the car or RV and leave it.  The Virgin River also runs along the south side of the campground.  It's a popular River to cool off in during the summer months.  Some camp spots in South Campground are very large, Campbase estimates that big rigs up to 50 feet can be accommodated in some spots.

If you plan to take your RV out through the tunnels to the east of the park, read the following article:   http://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/the-zion-mount-carmel-tunnel.htm

Local Recreation:

Bike riding is popular in the park.  The park bus can carry two bikes.  It's popular to put your bike on the bus and take it to the Narrow.  From there it's downhill for several miles all the way back to the campground.  Certain park roads are closed to all traffic except buses.

Angels Landing is a popular hike.  It's all up hill however, it's only a few miles long.  Bring plenty of water.

The Virgin River runs past the campground.  Depending on the time of year and water levels, tubing is popular on the River.
