Willow Beach Campground and RV Park.  There are approximately 38 RV and tent camp spots at this location.  Located in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the park is also just 20 minutes from Hoover Dam.  The campground has full hookups, level parking pads, paved roads, and no shade.  This is a remote wilderness area.  If you are traveling in this area during the summer months, bring plenty of water.

This section of the Colorado River running past the campground is navigable.  Going north towards Hoover Dam the river gets progressively shallower.  Going south leads into Lake Mohave.  Katherines Landing on Lake Mohave is approximately 50 miles down stream.

Local Recreation:

There are so many things to do in the Lake Mead's National Recreation Area that it's actually to much to mention here.  But, a few fun things are:

Willow Beach kayaking is the most popular activity from this location.  There are river canyons near this location that are great for kayaking.  Kayak launching beaches are also located here.

Hoover Dam.  There are two Dam tours and an information center for visitors with some souvenirs to purchase.  The $15 tour takes visitors down to the generator room..  The $30 tour adds a few additional areas of the Dam.  The Mike O'Callaghan and Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge is also located at the Dam.  The bridge provides some great spots for photos of the Dam.  Please see our Campbase video of the bridge by clicking HERE.

Bike ride or hike the paved River Mountains Loop Trail.  It's a circular 35 mile trail that loops through the recreation area passing through Boulder Beach.  It's a good one, make sure you bring the bike.  It's accessible from the Boulder Beach Campground or the Alan Bible Visitors Center.  Note that there are numerous climbs on the bike trail but it's entirely paved.

Most marinas in the recreation area on Lake Mead have boat rentals.  Fishing boats and jet skis are usually available.  Fishing boats rent for approximately $40 per hour and are a great way to get out onto the lake.

There is casino gaming near the recreation area in Boulder City and Las Vegas.  Closer to the park is the Hoover Dam Lodge and Casino.  It's located just a mile outside the Boulder Beach entrance.  The casino also has a helicopter landing pad with tours of the Grand Canyon available.
