Description

Lodgepole Campground Sequoia National Park.  The address used here is a general park address.  The Campbase map provided here is accurate for the location of the campground.  Note: Due to road conditions, RVs larger than 22 feet should enter the park from Fresno on highway 180.  There are numerous turn-outs for slower vehicles.  The highway is winding and better suited for the larger RVs.   Campbase used a 32 foot RV for this trip and it worked out fine.  RV's should not use the parks southern entrance Highway-198.  Highway-198 is restricted to vehicles shorter than 22 feet.

Directions:

From Fresno, take Highway 180E, following signs to Kings Canyon National Park. Once in the park, follow signs to Sequoia National Park and Lodgepole.

Please see the Campbase map tab for the exact location.

Lodgepole Campground, Sequoia National Park is an RV, trailer and tenting campground with 214 sites available during the summer months.  Spots for vehicles longer than 30 feet are limited.  The maximum RV length is 35 feet.  Lodgepole Village and information center is located at the campground.  The village has a market, pizza, ice cream, deli, showers, phones, and laundry.  It has everything to make camping more convenient.  The market has firewood and ice.  There is no cellular or Internet service available at the campground however, several pay phones are available at the market.  There are two daytime RV parking areas at Lodgepole if you are looking for a place to leave the RV for the day.  A river does run through the campground and some camp spots are on the river.  Click here to see a "ride-through" video of the campground.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are in California's rugged Sierra Nevada mountain range.  The scenery around the campground is breathtaking.  A short bus ride from the campground can be found the giant Sherman Tree and a Sequoia Tree Forest.

The bus service from Lodgepole is excellent and it's free however, it does not service the entire park.  A tow vehicle is recommended for touring this park.

RV generator hours are a bit different than most campgrounds.  They are allowed from 8 to 11 a.m. And from 5 to 8 p.m.

There are three gas stations in the National Park.  Kings Canyon Lodge, Hume Lake, and Stony Creek Village.  Diesel is available at the last two.  Campbase recommends filling your vehicles fuel tank before entering the National Park.

Dump stations are located at Potwisha, Lodgepole, Princess, and Dorst Creek campgrounds.

Bear boxes are provided in every campground in the park.  All food must be stored in these boxes unless it's kept out of sight in an RV.  Food may not be left out at any time.  Additional bear rules and information can be found at the restrooms.  Do not feed the bears at any time.

Cell phone service is unreliable but, pay phones are available in the lodge.

Bike riding opportunities in the Lodgepole area should be limited to the campground.  The roads into this area are not well suited to cycling.
