Sherwin Creek Campground.  The campground is just 2 miles from downtown Mammoth Lakes with 85 RV and tent camp spots available.  This is an active bear area.  Bears are even active during the day.  Please see our photos tab for a picture of a bear raiding a camp spot during the daytime.  Bear boxes are provided.  Bring your bear spray and bear whistle.  Reservations are available on Recreation.gov.  Camp spots not reserved are available first-come, first-served from the campground host.  The campground is seasional with snow in the winter. No cell service.  Campground roads are all dirt.  It can be dusty.  Sites are well spaced and fairly large.  Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, BBQ, and bear box.  Toilets are vault toilets.  Drinking water and a RV fill water station is available.  Most spots are shaded by large pine trees.  The campground is located around 7,500 feet.  Limit your exercise when you first arrive at this altitude.

Its a good campbase for hiking and visiting the Mammouth Lakes area.  There are also two golf courses in Mammoth Lakes.
