New Shady Rest Campground is open from May through November with 94 tent and RV camp sites.  This is dry camping, hookups are not available.  The campground is located In a pine forest with most camp sites having plenty of shade.  All camp sites are very large and also well maintained.  The camp roads are paved but, they can be narrow in spots.  A camp host is usually available at the entrance to the campground.  The campground is self registration.  There are plastic tags at each campsite indicating if the site is available and for how long.  Park in an available site and then register and pay at the pay station.  Showers are not available at the campground.  However, they are available, for a small fee, at the Mammoth Mountain RV Park across the highway.

The campground is located in a really convenient location.  It's behind the Mammoth Lakes Tourism office where you can find information about activities in the area.  Across the highway is a McDonalds Restaurant.  Fuel, markets, restaurants, and banks are all available within walking distance.

The campground is located on the Mammoth Lakes bike path.  The path runs to numerous locations in and around the town of Mammoth.

Use caution for bears in the campground every night.

Firewood is available at the campground entrance and also across Main Street at the fuel station.

The campground is reservable at Reserve America by clicking the RED "Book now" button on this page.
