Description

California, Flying Flags RV Resort and Campground has easy freeway access for big rigs.

Directions:

Located in the city of Buelton just off the 101 Freeway near the intersection of highway 246.  There is easy access to the park from the highway.  It's located less than a mile from the freeway.   Northbound on the 101, take the 246 exit and go left.  Then a left onto Avenue of the Flags and the park is right there. The campground is within a short walking distance to the downtown Buellton area.  Albertsons, Sears, shops, and restaurants are all nearby.  Solvang is a short four miles away from this location.

Please see the Campbase map for an accurate location.

Flying Flags RV Resort is open all year with approximately 255 RV and tent camp spots.  Big rigs can be accommodated.  The resort also has camp cabins, tent cabins, and tent camp spots.  The cabins are useful for those friends that don't have camping gear.  The Flying Flags RV Resort and Campground is in a great location if you plan to visit Solvang, wine tasting, or bike riding on one of the many 100 mile bike rides in the area.  Very easy access from the freeway without all the freeway noise.  The resort has six (6) restored Airstream trailers for rent.  They are very nicely appointed.  See the Flying Flags web site for more detail.  The campground has one of the largest and nicest kids play areas that I have ever seen.  Please see the PHOTO tab for pictures.  Most camp sites have trees and plenty of shade.  Premium camp spots have paved parking pads but all others have crushed rock.  Big rigs up to 60 feet can be accommodated.

The WIFI is free, no password is required, and it is very fast.  It's the best WIFI I have ever seen.

BBQ and fire rings are done a bit differently at this location.  None of the camp spots have BBQ or fire rings built in.  You will need to make a request at the front office and they will deliver whatever you request.  There is a small charge per device per night.

Local Recreation:

During my visit, I used Solvang Taxi service.  www.solvangtaxi.com.  Or, just call them at (805) 688-0069.  They also do wine country tours so, visit their web page for the details. There is also a linked button on the right of this page.

Downtown Solvang is a great place to spend the day.  There are hundreds of shops and all kinds of food.  There are actually to many bakeries to count so, you'll need to pace yourself.  Near Solvang is also the Old Mission Santa Ines.  It's quite an enjoyable spot.

Just seven miles from the campground is the Chumash Casino.  They have gaming and all the standard casino activities.  Don't even think about driving your RV up there, they do not have RV parking.  The good news is that there is a casino bus that leaves from near the campground.  See the casino bus picture on our Photos tab.  The phone number is (800) 247-7919.

The campground has a "Famous Friday Night Feast" so arrive between 5 and 7 P.M. If you want to enjoy a great BBQ of Tri-Tip, Chicken, and Ribs.  See the pictures for a picture of the BBQ equipment.
