Description

California, Lone Pine Campground is in the Inyo National Forest. 

Directions:

The park is located just six miles west of Lone Pine.  From downtown Lone Pine on Highway 395, take Whitney Portal Road and go Westbound. After six miles look for the campground sign on the left side of the hihway.

Comment

Lone Pine Campground is seasional with approximately 42 RV and tent camp spots.  Opens in april and closes in October.  Group camp spots are available.  This is an active bear area.  Sites up to 40 feet are available however, many sites are narrow and just 20 feet long.  The campground is located on the access road to Mount Whitney.  There is no cell service available from the campground. Each camp spot has a bear box.  Bears frequent the campground so be sure to secure your food.  Vault toilets, fire wood, and drinking water are available inside the campground.  There is also a campground host.  The campground is remote being located approximately six miles from Lone Pine.  The campground is situated along Inyo Creek.
