California, Whitney Portal Campground  Also called Mount Whitney Family Campground.

Directions:

From Highway-395 in the small town of Lone Pine, take Whitney Portal Road and go West for approximately 12 miles.  The campground will be on the left side of the highway.

Whitney Portal Campground  is seasional being open from April through October.  RV and tent sites are available.  This is a small campground.   Approximately 43 standard camp spots are available.  Three group camp spots are also available.  Some sites may be reserved in advance, while others are available on a "first-come, first-served" basis.  RV sites up to 35' long are available however, most sites are shorter.  The campground has firewood, fire grates, piped water, paved camp roads, and vault toilets.  This is an active bear area so store all food in bear boxes.
