Colorado, McPhee Recreation Area.  The park is part of the San Juan National Forest.

Directions:

From Dolores, CO: Travel south on Highway 145 and west on Highway 184 for about 7 miles to County Road 25. Turn north off this road and into the McPhee Recreation area complex on Forest Road 271.

McPhee Recreation Area  The campground is seasional being open from May through September.  The campground is located on a bluff above the lake.  McPhee Campground has 71 campsites on 2 loops with paved access. There are 50 reservable campsites, 24 sites with electric hookups, and 2 sites offer tables and toilets accommodating wheelchairs.  A dozen campsites are walk-ins with tent pads near scenic overlooks. The lake has easy access from the campground.  There is a boat launch ramp and small marina.  There are no services in the area of the campground.  No cellular service and no WiFi.  A pay phone was available.  All spots have a picnic table, fire ring, and BBQ.  Campground roads are paved.  Some camp spots are large enough to accommodate RV's up to approximately 35 feet.  Pets were allowed.  This is bear country, store your food appropriately.
