The Peg Leg Monument is located in the Anza-borrego Desert State Park.  The camping area is open all year with tent and RV camping available.  This is an open camping area without defined camp spots.  It's a small area so it can only accommodate approximately 30 RV's.  The prime season for this campground is October through April.  Extreme suummer tempratures drive most campers out of the area.  There are no services at the campground, the closest services are about seven miles away in Borrego Springs.  There is fuel, restaurants, and markets.  Once a year on April 1st there is a liars contest at the campground.
Pack it in, pack it out, no trash services.  If you are driving an RV there is a dump station and RV water at the Borrego Palm Canyon Campground near the Information Center.  $8 to dump.

Local Recreation:

Road bicycling is excellent in the area around the campground and in Borrego Springs.  Borrego Springs is a bicycle friendly community.  Most roads in the area have bike lanes.

The Anza Borrego Desert State Park is located around the campground.  The State Park has extensive hiking trails and wildlife viewing in the park.  In the spring there are wild flowers.  The information center is located nearby.

Ocotillo Wells State Recreational Vehicle Area is just 15 from the campground.  The recreation area is popular for off-roading.

The Galleta Meadows area has an extensive collection of sculptures located along the highway.  Please see our photos tab for a few pictures.  The sculptures are located throughout the Borrego Springs area.
