Directions:

From downtown Borrego Springs, go east on Palm Canyon Drive.  Continue past the airport and continue through the bend in the road.  The highway turns north.  Continue for several miles past the Henderson Canyon intersection.  Contine through the right bend in the highway and the highway name changes to Borrego Salten Saway.  Go east on Borrego Salten Seaway for less than one mile.  Turn left onto Rockhouse Trail.  The camping area starts just a few blocks up.

Rockhouse Camping Area can accommodate Rv's and tents.  This is a free open camping area.  It is privately owned.  There are no services at or near this location.  It is a wilderness area.  There are no restrooms and no water available.  There are some rock fire rings so it is possible to have a small camp fire.  Please leave the camp site better than you found it.  If you see trash, take it with you.  The nearest water and dump station to this area is in the Borrego Palm Canyon Campground near the Anza Borrego Desert Information Center.  It's $8 to dump your tank.  The nearest fuel, market, and restaurants are in Borrego Springs approximately 8 miles from this camping area.  The high season for this campground is October through April.  Summer tempratures tend to drive most campers out of the area.  Most cell phone carriers have service from this location.

Local Recreation:
 
Road bicycling is excellent in the area around the campground and in Borrego Springs.  Borrego Springs is a bicycle friendly community.  Most roads in the area have bike lanes.  
 
The Anza Borrego Desert State Park is located just a few miles from the campground.  The State Park has extensive hiking trails and wildlife viewing in the park.  In the spring there are wild flowers.  The information center is located nearby.
 
Ocotillo Wells State Recreational Vehicle Area is just 15 from the campground.  The recreation area is popular for off-roading.
 
The Galleta Meadows area has an extensive collection of sculptures located along the highway.  Please see our photos tab for a few pictures.  The sculptures are located throughout the Borrego Springs area.
