Description

Summit Lake South Campground, Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park(elevation 6,700 ft.) is conveniently located on the main road of Lassen Volcanic National Park. Highway 89, Lassen Peak Highway.  The highway is closed during the winter.  

Direction:

From Redding, California take State Highway 44 east approximately 48 miles to the Manzanita Lake entrance of the park. The campground is 14 miles south of the entrance on the main park road.

Comment

Summit Lake South Campground, Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park.  The open season is 6/26/15 to 9/29/15, weather permitting.  Summit Lake North closes September 15.  Loops B , C and D are reservable through www.recreation.gov.  Loops A and E are first-come, first-served.  The campground has approximately 50 RV and tent camp spots.  RV's up to 35 feet can be accommodated.  Most camp spots have large shade trees.  The campground is within walking distance of the small but scenic Summit Lake and eight miles from the 10,457-ft of Mount Lassen.  There are No services near the campground.  The closest dump station is at Manzanita Lake.  A few pull-round spots are available however, there are no pull-through spots.  

Motorized boats are not allowed on Summit Lake.
