Description

Arizona, Chavez Crossing Group, Coconino National Forest.  The campground is located between Sedona and Uptown Sedona in a semi urban area.

Directions:

If coming from Flagstaff, take I-17 south to Hwy 89A. Go south on 89A through Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona. Left to State Highway 179. Go 2  miles to the site. Adjacent to The Raddison Resort(formaly Poco Diablo oco Resort)

From Phoenix get off on Sedona Exit 298 travel 12.7 miles on HW 179, turn left on Oak Cliff Drive Adjacent to The Raddison Resort(formaly Poco Diablo)along Oak Creek.

From Interstate 17, take Exit 298 for Sedona. Turn onto Highway 179 toward Oak Creek, and after 12.7 miles miles turn left on Oak Cliff Drive. The campsite is adjacent to the entrance for the Radisson Resort.

Comment

Chavez Crossing Group Campground, Coconino National Forest, is in the picturesque Red Rock district of Arizona, with famous red rock formations and breathtaking painted sunsets. Placed beside Oak Creek and surrounded by sycamore and cypress groves, the campground's location offers a fresh sense of the great outdoors.  

Limited vehicle parking.  There are just three group spots at this campground.

Area Recreation:

There are several things to do in the area of the campground.  The primary recreation activity is swimming, hiking, and mountain biking.  There are also approximately 10 miles of road bike lanes on highway 179 in front of the campground.  There is an unlimited number of mountain bike trails through bueatiful red rock views.

Uptown Sedona is just 3 miles north where there are shops, restaurants, markets, and fuel.  Uptown Sedona is a popular area for restaurants.
 
Oak Creek Canyon is just 4 miles north on Highway 179.  Road bicycling in this narrow canyon is not recommended.  However, the area is popular with motorcycle groups due to the canyon roads and road side cafés. 
 
There are numerous opportunities for photography at Slide Rock and in Sedona.
