Comment

Manzanita Campground is open all year with 19 tent only camp spots.  Parking spots are small and not larger than 20 feet.  The campground is nestled along the banks of the Oak Creek River in Oak Creek Canyon six miles north of Sedona.  There are no amenities in the area of the campground.  The campground elevation is approximately 5000 feet.  The campground is in bear country so store food properly.  Bear boxes are not provided.  Rattlesnakes are also in the area.  The campground does have a camp host.  Firewood is available at the camp host.  This campground does get very crowded every weekend.

Slide Rock State Park is approximately one mile East of the campground.

Coin-operated showers are available at Cave Springs Campground just a short distance north on highway 89A.  However, Cave Springs is a seasonal campground and not open between October and April.

Highway 89A leading to the campground is winding and narrow at points.  Larger RV's should avoid using this highway if possible.

Recreation:

The primary recreation in this area is swimming, hiking, and Slide Rock.

Downtown Sedona is just six miles south where there are shops, restaurants, markets, and fuel.  Uptown Sedona is a popular area for restaurants.

Road bicycling in this narrow canyon is not recommended.

The area is popular with motorcycle groups due to the canyon roads and road side cafés.

There are numerous opportunities for photography at Slide Rock and in Sedona.
