Description

Maine, Lamoine State Park.  Travel will be all country roads however, they are in good shape.  The campground is located on the Mount Desert Narrows Bay across from Bar Harbor.  Cadillac Mountain can be seen from the campground. 

Directions:

From Ellsworth, Maine take Highway 1 East.  After approximately half a mile, go right on highway 184(it will seem like you are still in Ellsworth).  Travel south approximately 12 miles.  The campground entrance will be on the right side.

Lamoine State Park campground is seasonal being open from May 15 through October 15.  There are 61 RV and Tent camp spots.  RV's up to 45 feet can be accommodated.  Most camp spots are large and private with trees between each site.  This is dry camping there are no hookups.  Drinking water, restrooms, showers, and a dump station are available.  The park has a boat launch and a dock.  The launch ramp is not paved.  Only a few camp spots are on the water.  Other than the launch ramp and firewood, there are no services at or near the park.  For most services you will need to drive 12 miles to Ellsworth.  

The campground is in a picturesque location across the harbor from Acadia National Park and Cadallac Mountain.  It's an 18 mile drive around the harbor to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor the two most popular destinations in the area.

Depending on the time of year, many areas in Maine may have ticksbees, and mosquitos.  Due to the potential problems posed by these insects it's best to arrive prepared should these insects become a nuisance.  Campbase recommends screen enclosuresrepellantsbug zappers, and mesh net hats.  Please click these links to see our recommended items. 

Local Recreation:

Bar Harbor is approximately 18 miles from the resort, it's a great way to spend the day walking through shops and eating at restaurants.  
 
Acadia National Park is just 18 miles to the southeast of the campground.  Road touring is popular in Acadia.  There is also an extensive network of carriage trails used for biking and hiking.  Photography is popular with all the nature views in the park.  Please click here for our Acadia National Park page.
 
Kayaking is popular from this location because of the ocean access.

The Down East Sunrise Trail ends in Ellsworth near the campground.  It's a multi-use trail for hiking, biking, and off-roading.  Get your mountain bike and ride.  It's 95 miles through an amazing wilderness.
