Description

California, Peavine Campground, Angeles National Forest.  The campground may be usually inaccessabel during the winter months due to heavy snow.  

Direction:

From I­nterstate-15 near Cajon, take Highway 138 west. Turn left on Angeles Crest Highway and drive 9 miles to the Big Pines Information Station.  Continue on Big Pines Highway (County Road N4) and drive 2.5 miles to campground on the left.  It will be the second turnout pocket campground on the left side of the highway.  The first one is Apple Tree Campground.

Peavine Campground, Angeles National Forest is open all year at 6,100 feet.  The campground does have snow on the ground during the winter months.  The area has heavy use during snow play.  There are just 4 walk-in, tent only, camp spots available.  Piped water (shut off when temperatures reach freezing), fire pits, picnic tables, and flush toilets are available.  All camp spots have shade trees.  Pets are ok at this location.  There are no services available at or near the campground.  Most cell phones do not have service at this location.

Local Recreation:

Jackson Lake nearby has fishing.  It's a very small mountain lake, no boats allowed.  

Mountain High Ski Resort is primarily open during the winter months.
